Questions and answers
General questions about the digital vignette
What is a digital vignette or E-vignette?
The digital vignette, also known as the e-vignette, is the modern form of the well-known adhesive vignette and serves as proof of payment of the toll for motor vehicles and thus secures the driver the right to use motorways, expressways and national roads in many countries in Germany Europe, for the period of validity of the digital vignette. In principle, the digital vignette does not differ significantly from the classic adhesive vignette. While the adhesive vignette was tied to the vehicle, the e-vignette is tied to the license plate. At the end of the day, however, the advantages are obvious. The annoying sticking and fiddling has now come to an end with the introduction of the digital vignette.
How does the digital vignette work?
The way the digital vignette works is simple and efficient. The digital vignette or e-vignette is not tied to the vehicle, but rather to the license plate. As soon as your license plate has been registered in the respective toll authority’s system and linked to your digital vignette, you can pass through any toll booth without the hassle of standing still. Camera systems at the toll booths automatically capture your license plate number and compare it with the database to ensure that the vignette has been paid for and is valid. As soon as the check has been carried out, the toll booth cabinets open automatically and you can pass through the toll station immediately. The comparison takes place within seconds. Since everything is done digitally or electronically, you save yourself the hassle of gluing and fiddling around later.
What is the difference between a digital vignette and digital route toll?
In many European countries, driving on motorways, expressways or national roads is only possible with a valid vignette, so there is a vignette requirement. As a basic rule, the vignette obligation applies in most European countries to all motor vehicles with a permissible total weight (GVW) of up to 3.5 tons. A separate additional toll is often imposed for motor vehicles with a permissible gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 3.5 tonnes. However, the way tolls are collected varies from country to country. In Austria, for example, very cost-intensive stretches of route are subject to separate tolls in addition to the vignette, even for vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As is well known, this includes the A10 Tauernautobahn with the Katschbergtunnel and the A11 Karawankenautobahn with the Karawankentunnel. The same applies to the A13, the Brenner Pass. You can find out the exact provisions on the digital vignette and digital section toll on the respective country pages.

You will only receive your order confirmation from us by email, because we are as digital as the digital vignette itself. All of our processes are designed to be processed safely and quickly. What do I have to do if I haven’t received an order confirmation?
If you have not received an order confirmation by email, the first thing you should do is check your spam folder to see whether the email has arrived. Unfortunately, we can never completely rule out the possibility that this can happen from time to time.
I accidentally gave the wrong information when ordering?
Once the validity of the digital vignette has begun, we are no longer able to correct incorrect information. Unintentionally incorrect information must be corrected before the digital vignettes become valid. If the vignette is already valid, you must inevitably order a new vignette.
