Digital vignette and toll in Romania
A digital vignette, the Rovinieta, is required to drive on national roads in Romania. The Rovinieta can be purchased online, but also at border crossings and gas stations. However, the advantage of buying online is obvious. The Romanian national road network is subject to tolls for motor vehicles, with the exception of motorcycles. Additional tolls apply for using the Danube crossing towards Bulgaria.

The digital vignette in Romania, also called Rovinieta, is mandatory for motor vehicles. Motorcycles are exempt from the vignette requirement. Trailers are also exempt from the fee. In addition, mobile homes are charged like cars, regardless of their permissible total weight.

7-day vignette

30-day vignette
The 30-day vignette, like all other digital vignettes in Romania, is available for vehicles of all classes and remains valid for one month from the day of issue. With it you can drive on all national roads that are subject to the vignette requirement in Romania
90-day vignette
The 90-day vignette, similar to all other digital vignettes in Romania, is available for vehicles of all categories and is valid for three months from the day of purchase. It allows the use of all national roads in Romania that require a vignette.
Annual vignette
The annual vignette, like all other digital vignettes in Romania, is available for vehicles of all classes and remains valid for a full year from the day of issue. With this vignette, the use of all national roads in Romania that require a vignette is permitted.

Digital route toll Romania online
In principle, the vignette requirement applies to all vehicle classes in categories A – H. The permissible total weight of the vehicles plays no role in the general vignette requirement. Motor vehicles are only allowed to drive on Romania’s national roads with a valid vignette. In addition to the national roads in Romania, there are some toll bridges and ferry crossings across the Danube. A special toll is due here for passing the respective bridge or using the ferry.
The prices for using the bridge to cross the Danube depend on the respective vehicle type. Here, the simple price usually only applies to vehicles with a permissible gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 3.5 tonnes. Vehicles that exceed the GVW of 3.5 tons sometimes pay higher prices.
